There were no injuries, but a dozing driver managed to drive off US 321 across from Tweetsie and land his car in a precarious position on the side of a hill.
Stephen Justin Parlier, 51, of Boone, told the N.C. Highway Patrol that he fell asleep at the wheel while traveling south at about 1:30 p.m. His Mercury Sable stopped several feet up a dirt-covered bank. Blowing Rock Fire & Rescue responded to the accident along with Watauga Medics, who were turned back as Parlier said he was not hurt.
