Lots of rain in the past 24 hours, with amounts in many areas now reaching an inch and a quarter for the storm—with some more to come. The Watauga Sheriff’s Office reports that Dewitt Barnett Road has a low water bridge under water, and certainly more will be reported as folks venture out this morning.
The National Weather Service, with a Flood Warning in place as well as a flash flood watch, is reporting nearly 3 inches of rain at Glendale Springs, but the Ashe Sheriff’s Office says no one has reported water over the bridges at this point. Slightly lower rainfall amounts are being reported in Avery, and the sheriff’s office says the same—no reports—yet—of water over bridges. There was a small rock slide in Ashe last night attributed to the rain, but it was quickly cleared and no traffic problems of that type are reported this morning.
