If size and function are to be tested at the new Hospitality House, it certainly got a good start, as an overflow crowd came to celebrate the three-year effort that created it.
Dignitaries of all types, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, state representatives, county and local officials joined with the Board of Hospitality House and many folks just interested in the project in dedicating the new facility. $3 million for the project came from donors, with another $2 million plus from grants and financing. The event culminated with Pastor Tim Smith, former pastor at Grace Lutheran, former board chairman, offering the blessing of the house, concluding with the singing of “Bless This House,” by Helen Taylor and Mary Brahe. There will still be some time before the house is operational, with some final touches underway, but the celebration continues into the night with the “Hearts of Hospitality House Ball” at the Broyhill Inn & Conference Center.
