Temperatures hit freezing just before 7:30 this morning, and the rash of wrecks was on.
First report was on 321 in Blowing Rock near Shops on the Parkway, a woman injured there, then a woman ran off Meat Camp Road, over the embankment, landing in the water, but her injuries were regarded as not serious. Reports of at least one other accident on Meat Camp Road are reported. In Ashe, Helton Creek was the scene of both black ice and a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. US 221, Idlewild Road, Sussex Road at John Halsey Road--all accident sites, along with Big Hill Road in Todd.
