A Watauga Deputy narrowly escaped injury as a vehicle nearly ran into his patrol car on Georges Gap Road at the intersection of Old 421 late Saturday afternoon. Two WCSO cars were seeking the suspects, according to the Trooper T.B. Hendrix of the State Patrol, when the suspect vehicle sped away and quickly turned—then the driver lost control right as they met the sheriff's department patrol cars, the out of control car nearly hitting Sgt. Absher’s vehicle.  The Jeep Cherokee the suspect was driving overturned right at the bridge at old 421 and Georges Gap Road.  The Driver was identified as 22-year old Corey Paul Brown of Vilas, his passenger 38-year old Jody Danner of Zionville.  Trooper Hendrix said that the Jeep was traveling 15 to 20mph over the speed limit at the time of the wreck, and he issued a citation for reckless driving against Brown, while the Watauga Deputies cited him for DWI.  There were slight injuries reported for the two in the overturned Jeep, the injured transported by Watauga Medics to Watauga Medical Center—accompanied by deputies and the state patrol investigating the incident.
