 The Watauga High men's and women's basketball teams had the night off on Friday.
But there were three games on the schedule in Northwestern 3A/4A Conference. Hickory maintained its grip on first place in both the men's and women's divisions with lopsided victories at Hibriten; the South Caldwell women survived a low-scoring affair against St. Stephens, the Alexander Central men won their fourth game in a row; and the Fred T. Foard men and women played their first games since January 4. The Tigers all ready have rescheduled games on their schedule. The WHS men and women tip-off their longest homestand of the season Tuesday night, weather permitting. south Caldwell comes to town on Tuesday night; Fred T. Foard will invade Boone on Wednesday in a make-up game that was snowed out January 7. And the Fred T. Foard men have lost 15 consecutive games in league play dating back to last year; and WHS closes out the week against Hibriten on Friday.
