![]() The Watauga High basketball teams had their games against Fred T. Foard postponed on Friday night because of inclement weather. No make up date has been announced as of yet by the WHS Athletic Department. The WHS men and women travel, weather permitting, to Taylorsville to play Alexander Central Tuesday night. The Alexander Central women (6-7 overall; 2-1 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) are off to their best start since the 1988-89 season. Tuesday night's game against WHS will be the Cougars for 4A division game. The WHS women are 0-1 in divisional play. Ashe County snapped Watauga's three-game winning streak Thursday night.It was also Ashe County's 13th consecutive win against the Pioneers. WHS hasn't beaten Ashe County since the 2004-05 season at the old Lentz-Eggers Gym. WHS hasn't won in West Jefferson since 2003-04. The WHS men, who have won two in a row, are currently undefeated in league play. And a win Tuesday night would give WHS (8-4; 2-0 NW3A/4A) a 2-0 record in 4A divisional play. The Pioneers swept the season series against the Cougars last season. Our coverage, weather permitting, begins at 6 pm Tuesday night from Taylorsville on Oldies 100,7 FM.
