Shaquille Counts, a 6-foot-2, 275 pound offensive lineman from Irmo, South Carolina, has made a verbal committment to play football at Appalachian State next fall.

Counts, a senior at Irmo High School, was also looked at by East Carolina, Maryland and South Carolina.

The national signing period will be held in early February.
