The final chapter in the saga of Freddie Hammer was written in Ashe Superior Court today, after Hammer entered a guilty plea to the murder of Jimmy Blevins.
Hammer was already serving 7 life terms in Virginia for the murders of Ashe Christmas tree farmers Ron Hudler, 73, and his son Fred Hudler, 44, and an employee at property just across the state line in Virginia, but he refused to admit to the murder of Blevins. But in court today, according to Sheriff James Williams, he had to do just that. Hammer’s North Carolina life term will come at the conclusion of the terms he’s serving in the state of Virginia.
