Boone Police are investigating the case of a woman found just at dark yesterday—in some state of undress—behind businesses on Southgate Drive.

A merchant found the woman crying for help there and called police, responding officers describing the woman’s clothing as ‘torn.’ Watauga Medics responded as the despondent woman was being interviews by first arriving officers, and she was taken to Watauga Medical Center.  Detectives took over the 5:40pm investigation, and investigators say they have been unable to verify aspects of the woman’s story and their investigation continues.
