Appalachian State running back Devon Moore followed up his strong showing on Saturday by being named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week.
Moore, a red-shirt senior, rambled for 115 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns as ASU pounded Wofford College 43-13 to win its sixth consecutive SoCon title, tying the league record originally set by Georgia Southern (1997-2002). Place-kicker Jason Vitaris of the Mountaineers has been named the SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week, the second time he's won the award this season (he was given this award back on September 20). Vitaris, who had a career-best 50-yard field goal against the Terriers on Saturday, also had a successful try from 39 yards away, and he was 5 of 5 on extra points. The Apps (9-1 overall; 7-1 in the SoCon) travel to Gainesville to take on Florida in their regular-season finale on Saturday. Our coverage begins at 10:30 am on AM 1450, WATA. |
