Quick Action of Forestry Service Saves Foscoe Homes PDF Print

The Foscoe area was the hot spot for woods fires all afternoon.  First calls came in during the noon hour to a fire off of Clarks Creek Road at Farmview Road. Then Foscoe, Cove Creek, and Boone fire departments were called a fire just off Bairds Creek Road near Scene-A-Rama Drive. The rugged 6-acre fire burned up close to one house in the Laurel Ridge development, and was very near several others that were spared thanks to the firefighting effort.
The NC Forestry Service spotted other smoke in Foscoe proper, and may have saved a house in the process.  Fire was found burning through a low-lying area against a hill at Randy Aldridge’s property right on NC 105, which started after family members burned leaves on his property Wednesday morning.  The blaze ran up to and under the deck at the house, but quick work of the Forest Service saved the home just across from Church Road.
State Forestry Service called for air surveillance at one point, searching for the location of smoke spotted in the area during the afternoon.  Other calls included one on Big Hill road, where an unattended brush fire was attended to by firemen.
