Eric Breitenstein continued his rapid pace to the top as he backboned Wofford College to a huge victory on Saturday.

That effort, coupled with Appalachian State's loss at Georgia Sourthern, has given Wofford sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference standings. The Terriers (8-1 overall; 6-0 in the SoCon), own a half-game lead on ASU (8-1; 6-1 SoCon) for that No.1 seed. Those two square off at Kidd Brewer Stadium Saturday at 3 pm for the SoCon title.
Breitenstein, who ran for 227 yards in Saturday's 10-3 win against Samford, has been named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week. He was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month for October.
On the year, the former Watauga High Pioneer and two-time all-stater, has rambled for 1,189 yards. He has more than 1,200 yards of offense on the year. He still leads the nation in scoring, averaging 11.33 points-per-game, and he is sixth in the country in rushing with an average of 132.1 yards-per-game.
Breitenstein, a red-shirt sophomore who missed all of last season with a knee injury, had a career-best of 157 yards rushing at the time in his only appearance against ASU in 2008. That was also the night ASU humbled Wofford 70-24 on national TV at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
Our converage begins at 1 pm Saturday on AM 1450, WATA.
