GoBlueRidge.net readers are reporting another tremor in the border area of Ashe County and the Tennessee line. The Southeast US Seismic Network recorded the quake as a 2.9 magnitude on the Richter scale.
Residents of the Flatwood Road area of Creston reported hearing a ‘boom’ just before 1 Sunday afternoon. Technical data about the quake indicates it is 2.4 miles deep 20 miles north of Boone, 25 miles east-north-east of Bristol. Most maps show the quake right on the state line, but a topographical map has the quake just west of the state line. So far, there are no reports of damage.
