It will be the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers in the World Series.
The Giants advanced on Saturday night as they held on to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 in game six of the National League Championship Series. And Madison Bumgarner, who played his high school baseball at South Caldwell, played a key role in that decision. Pitching in relief on just two days rest, he came on and threw two scoreless innings. He got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, and with a runner on at second and one out in the sixth, he struck out pinch-hitter Ben Francisco and retired JImmy Rollins on a fly ball to center field. The Giants will host the Rangers in game one of the World Series Wednesday night. The Rangers advanced by defeating the Yankees 6-1 Friday night in game six of the ALCS. |
