 The Avery High Vikings keep rolling along. The Vikings scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter and broke the game wide open.
That erruptionj gave Avery (7-2 overall; 3-2 in the Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference) a commanding 28-0 lead at the breaki, enroute to a 42-0 blowout win. The game also marked the return of Vikings quarterback Alex Villanueva, who has been on the shelf since September 23 with a broken collarbone. Villanueva threw three touchdown passes and completed 14 of 23 passes for 221 yards. Running back Colton Blackburn of the Vikings scored four touchdowns, two on the ground ,and one through the air. He also recovered a Madison fumble in the end zone. Madison committed five turnovers and had 54 total yards. Villanueva was 14-23 for 221 yards; Blackburn ran for 103 yards on just 11 carries, and wide receiver Andy Gonzalez caught five balls for 107 yards and two touchdowns. In all, the vikings racked up 382 yards offensively, including 161 on the ground. Avery travels to Mountain Heritage next Friday night.
