Vikings fall to Polk County PDF Print

Polk County, coming off an upset loss at Mitchell last week, regrouped and defeated Avery 36-12 in a Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference game on Friday night in Columbus, NC.

 

The Wolverines (7-1 overall; 3-1 in the WHC) built a 22-0 lead and coasted home from there. Quarterback Andre Overholt of the Wolverines turned in a huge game completing nine of 12 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns.
Dustin Childress and Colton Blackburn backboned the Vikings (6-2; 2-2). Childress was 14-32 for 135 yards, one touchdown and an interception; Blackburn ran for 93 yards on 20 carries and a score. Andy Gonzalez caught five passes for 77 yards.
The Vikings return home to play Madison next Friday night.
