A young woman was found unconscious when her car crashed just off of Charlie Thomas Road near the Linville Creek Road intersection about 2 this afternoon.
Paramedics and first responders found 21-year old Kolanda Nicole Grant unconscious behind the wheel, but the impact to a fence, signpost and tree were not sufficient to deploy the airbags in her car. She was rushed from the scene to Watauga Medical Center still mostly unconscious, but regained consciousness at Watauga Medical Center and was able to give trooper Suttle a statement. She indicated that she was unfamiliar with the road and was traveling too fast, running off the road, over-correcting, and crashing off the road in the opposite direction. The ASU student from Winston-Salem had been at a school as part of her studies and was returning to town when the accident occurred.
