 The Appalachian State football team is the unanimous choice as the No.1 team in the country in college football.
ASU (4-0 overall, 2-0 in the Souther Conference), coming off a bye week, is ranked No.1 in both The Sports Network and FCS Coaches Polls. The Mountaineers received 23 first-place votes. Delaware, which is ranked No.2 after the Blue Hens defeated James Madison last Saturday, received two first place votes. Jacksonville St., Stephen F. Austin and William & Mary round out the top five; Villanova, No.2 last week, falls to No.7 after losing to William & Mary. James Madison is sixth. UMass, South Carolina State and Montana St. round out the top ten. Georgia Southern is 13th, Elon is 19th and Wofford is 25th. The Phoenix play ASU at Kidd Brewer Stadium on Saturday.
