The Boone Chamber of Commerce’s Adult Spelling Bee opened last night at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center. Thirty-Two teams made up of four members each vied to show off their spelling skills and take home the big prize.
Some also competed for best costume and best decorated table. Among the contenders? The Watauga Village Idiots, The Watauga County Library Doodle Bees, The Blowing Rock Rotary Buzz, and Watauga Board Of Education’s Dr. Short Shorts Shenanigans and a crew from Aisling Broadcasting. In the end, The Grand Ole Broads “At the Easter Parade” proved themselves to be both the most creatively dressed and the best spellers. The Mast General Store Spellunkers won the prize for best decorated table.
