High Country Operation Medicine Cabinet Kicks off today on the ASU campus and continues tomorrow. Watauga has lead the state in collection of pharmaceuticals, keeping them out of the waste stream and out of our food chain.
Today’s event is at the Plemmons Student Union at ASU, and tomorrow, Foscoe Fire Department and at Food Lion locations in Deep Gap and Blowing Rock will have collection sites set up from 10am to 2pm. Sheriff Len Hagaman said that several thousand pills had already been taken in even before the event started, and organizers are looking for much more. There are no questions asked about any medicines turned in—even over-the-counter medications.
