ARHS Charges Burke Man, More Hospitals Defrauded PDF Print

A Morganton man has been charged by the Appalachian Regional Healthcare System Police in a number counts related to fraud—and may be charged by a number of other hospitals.

Harvey Lee Edwards of 3031 Clark Loop Morganton, 32, is charged with 6 felony counts of obtaining property/services by false pretense, counts alleging that on numerous occasions Mr. Edwards used fraudulent information to obtain services and controlled substances. Edwards is currently held in the Iredell County jail under a $13,000.00 secured bond for these and other related offenses from Iredell County. Services obtained from ARHS member facilities total more than $20,000.00 over a 9 month time span. Edwards is to appear in Watauga County District Court November 04, 2010.  The investigation is on-going and may ultimately involve more than 10 regional hospitals and emergency rooms
