Watauga Humane Society's New Shelter...Once Only a Dream...Rapidly Becoming a Reality... PDF Print

For the first time on Thursday evening, September 23rd, The Watauga Humane Society Board of Directors held its monthly meeting at the construction site of their new shelter and adoption center located on the hillside above Don Hayes Road.

The meeting was a "bring-your-own-chair" open-air event, amidst the studs, girders, scaffolding and materials.
Board members were treated to a guided tour of the new facility. Board Liaison Bill Jolly, who has been the humane society coordinator with general contractor Enterline and Russell, conducted the tour and explained in detail the layout of the new shelter, pointing out the various dog kennel rooms, cat sun porches, administrative offices, and reception areas.  Appropriately the board meeting was held in what will be the facility's meeting room.
The Capital Campaign for the construction and maintenance of the new animal care facility is now underway. For further information, contact Jenny miller at 828/295-0128.
