ASU remains No.1 in Coaches Poll PDF Print

The Appalachian State University football team maintained its No.1 ranking in the FCS Coaches Poll that was released on Monday. The Mountaineers (3-0), off to their best start since 2007, received 17 first-place votes. Villanova, which is No.1 in The Sports Network Poll, is No.2. The Wildcats (2-1) received six first-place votes. James Madison, Jacksonville State and Richmond round out the top five. Elon, which lost to Richmond in overtime, falls to 11th, Montana is 14th and Georgia Southern is 24th. Furman, which was 25th in the coaches poll last week, falls out of the top 25.
The Mountaineers travel to Samford (2-1) on Saturday for a Southern Conference match-up. The Apps are 1-0 in league play. This will be Samford's conference opener. Our coverage begins at 1 pm on AM 1450, WATA.
