WHS volleyball now 5-1 PDF Print

The Watauga High volleyball team continued its winning ways Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers (5-1) swept their way to a pair of easy wins at a tri-match in Burnsville. WHS defeated McDowell 3-games to none (winning all three games by identical 25-7 scores) in its opening match. WHS followed that up by knocking off the host school, Mountain Heritage, 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-21).
Bailey Hagaman turned in a stellar effort as the senior racked up 62 assists on the day. Skylar Hicks had 34 digs,  Channing Hagaman had 20 kills and nine digs, and Hannah Stewart 16 kills and 18 digs in the two-match sweep.
Brooke Rhoades had nine kills and four blocks against Mountain Heritage, and Caroline Yates had six kills against the Cougars.
WHS travels to Avery Monday night before closing out the week with a home match against Mitchell next Tuesday night. The Pioneers open Northwestern 3A/4A Conference play on September 9 against South Caldwell.
