ASU teacher Beth Marsh has received the Brantz Award for Outstanding Teaching. The Assistant Director of Appalachian’s Freshman Seminar was chosen out of 31 nominees.
The award is named for Rennie Brantz, now a Town Councilman, who was director of Freshman Seminar for 14 years. The school presents it annually to honor teachers’ motivation, commitment, dedication and passion. Marsh says her key goals as a teacher are to make a personal connection with each student, to respect her student’s time by making each class meaningful, and to make learning fun. She will receive her award in August.
