Phillip Greene has been named the new Community Relations Director for Athletics at Lees McRae College. Athletics Director Craig McPhail made the announcement on Wednesday. Greene has spent the past year as the sports editor and photographer for the The Avery Post, a local newspaper in Newland, N.C., and as a Youth Minister at Elk Park Christain Church in Elk Park, N.C. His father, Jim Greene, is an employee of High Country Radio and is the morning host on WECR 1130 AM.
“Phillip’s ties to the Banner Elk community and the surrounding High Country will play a key role in our continuing efforts to strengthen our ties in upstate North Carolina,” McPhail said.
Greene will have a number of responsibilities at the school ranging from game-day set up, managing the department's travel schedule and assisting the sports information department with feature stories, photos and public relations.
