Appalachian State University’s Oct. 16 football matchup versus The Citadel at Kidd Brewer Stadium will kick off at 6 p.m., ASU athletics announced on Tuesday.

A plethora of community events are on tap for that Saturday, including ASU’s Family Weekend, the Wooly Worm Festival in Banner Elk and the Valle Country Fair in Valle Crucis, as well as it being forecast as the peak weekend for fall foliage in the region. The later kickoff time will help better accommodate what is sure to be a very high volume of traffic on and around campus and allow most Family Weekend activities to be held without interruption. It also gives fans the opportunity to enjoy all that the High Country has to offer during the day before making their way to The Rock for just Appalachian’s second Saturday night home game since 2001.

Game times are now set for five of ASU’s six home games in 2010, with only the regular-season home finale versus Wofford (Nov. 13) still TBA due to the Southern Conference’s new flexible late-season television schedule. The first two home games of the year (Sept. 11 vs. Jacksonville and Sept. 18 vs. North Carolina Central), as well as the Oct. 25 Black Saturday showdown versus Furman will kick off at 3:30 p.m. The Oct. 9 homecoming tilt against Elon will start at 3 p.m. and be televised regionally on SportSouth.

With packages starting at just $50, purchasing ASU season tickets is the only way to ensure a seat for all of the exciting action of Mountaineer football in 2010. For information, visit GoASU.com, call (828) 262-2079 and or visit the ASU athletics ticket office, located in the Holmes Center, in person between 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
