Longtime New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, better known as "The Boss" passed away this morning in Tampa, Fla.

Steinbrenner, who bought the Yankees from CBS in 1973 and returned them to their glory days by winning seven World Series titles during his tenure, suffered a massive heart attack early this morning at his home in Tampa. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he passed away at 6:30 am.
Steinbrenner was 80 years-old. He celebrated his 80th birthday on the Fourth of July. His death comes two days after the team's beloved public-address announcer Bob Sheppard died at 99.
