Body That Washed up in Lake Norman Tentatively Identified

The body that washed up on the Catawba County side of Lake Norman on Sunday has been tentatively identified.

Our news partner, Foothills Radio Group, reports the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office believes the body belonged to 64-year-old Stanley Donaldson, of Denver.

A spokesperson with the investigations unit of the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office told High Country Radio the body hasn’t been scientifically proven to belong to Donaldson, but the height, weight, and physical features of the body all match Donaldson. The spokesperson said the body also had a handlebar mustache, which Donaldson had in a recent picture, and the body was found near Donaldson’s boat.

Foothills Radio Group reports authorities think Donaldson may have fallen between his boat and the slip where he docked his boat.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office told High Country Radio Donaldson may have been last seen as early as November 15.

According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, dental records and other scientific tests will be run to confirm the identity of the body.

That's just awful to have to go identify someone so close to the Christmas Holiday...my thought's are with the Family!
