The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office arrested two fugitives from Miami, Florida this week.

According to Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman, 43-year-old Rosemary Jocelyn Gomez and 46-year-old Jorge Luis Villanueva were both arrested and charged as fugitives of justice.  They were reportedly living in Banner Elk.  Both were given a $100,000 bond and will appear in court on December 3.

Sheriff Hagaman said his office received word that the two might be in the area from Miami-Dade detectives on Wednesday.  Hagaman added the apprehension of these fugitives was a coordinated arrest effort involving several states.

Authorities at the sheriff's office said the two were wanted on racketeering charges in Florida.

Miami-Dade authorities are expected to coordinate the return of Gomez and Villanueva back to Florida within the next few days.

I saw some fugitives from Miami just yesterday. They were traveling on 105 towards Linville doing 38 mph in a 55 zone with their left turn signal on all the way. They are easy to recognize...chartreuse Cadillac with a bug screen, and the driver was wearing those wrap around shades. The passenger had blue hair and had a Pekingese in her lap. If you see these desperate fugitives, call 911.
