The Town of Boone is implementing a two-month pilot program to boost recycling in response to the new statewide mandate banning plastic bottles from landfills.
According to Boone’s Recycling Coordinator, Marsha Story, the new program provides a recycling drop-off location in the Horn in the West parking lot on Horn in the West Drive.
Story said Horn in the West was selected as the location because it is in the heart of Boone.
All plastic bottles and plastics with a #1 or #2 recycle symbol on them, aluminum and steel food and beverage cans, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and clear, brown, and green glass food beverage bottles can be recycled at the new location at Horn in the West.
