The Boone Police Department brought two new officers onto the force to fill the spots vacated by Captain Curtis Main and Master Police Officer Carl Underwood’s retirement.
28-year-old Officer Jason Brent Reid, of Boone, began his career with the Boone P.D. on October 5. He is originally from Henderson County, where he graduated from West Henderson High School. Reid’s wife, Gina, works at Samaritan’s Purse and his brother, Daniel, is currently serving in Iraq.
23-year-old Officer James Neal Long, of Elk Park, began his career with the Boone P.D. on October 12. He’s the son of Jerry Long and Lynne Stewart Long of Spruce Pine. Long’s wife, Courtney, works at Community Bank in Banner Elk. Long graduated from Mitchell High School and received his Basic Law Enforcement Training from Mayland Community College.
