hallowedground.jpg After a former renter of North Wilkesboro Speedway left many fans disappointed with broken promises of races at the historic track, a new group of owners plans on bringing racing back to Wilkes County.

WBTV reports North Wilkesboro Speedway is under a new ownership group that includes Terri Parsons, the widow of NASCAR legend Benny Parsons.

The stock car series USAR Pro Cup will run at North Wilkesboro next October, which is the same weekend NASCAR held races at the track over a decade ago.

I'm so tired of being promised time and time again that racing is coming back to Wilkesboro. I'm sure that many high country residents are disappointed as well. I sure hope this time these people mean business instead of "oh, we decided not to"
GEEZ!!!

I'm not a big NASCAR fan, butr isn't this where it all began? If so it's shameful that a venue of such international significance has been left neglected until some maybe maybe not folk show some interest.

It is a historic track that always sold out it's 2 races. But it was not good enough. Bruton "His Majesty" Smith bought it and killed it so he could have the race dates in racing mecca's such as New Hampshire.

Please put the track and surrounding area out of it's misery and knock it down. Replace it with an Animal Shelter and Recycling Center.. Thank you....
