Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson named this month National Hospice and Palliative Care Month for the Town of Boone.
According to Candice Cook of the High Country Healthcare System Hospice, Clawson made the declaration official in late October.
The proclamation encourages citizens to increase their understanding and awareness of care at the end of life.
The number of patients served by High Country Hospice has grown by 17 percent since 2008.
According to officials, to help increase understanding and awareness of hospice care, High Country Hospice staff is offering informational talks to community groups. If you’d like to schedule a High Country Hospice speaker’s bureau talk or would like more information on High Country Hospice, call (828) 265-3926 or visit www.HighCountryHospice.org.
