Hagan Weighs in on Obama’s Healthcare Address to Congress Print E-mail
Written by Adam Hicks

Thursday, September 10 2009

Senator Kay Hagan released a statement late last night in reaction to President Barack Obama’s address to Congress in regard to healthcare reform.

Hagan has said all along that she is in support of the President’s plan and she followed Mr. Obama’s address with a statement agreeing with his thoughts on healthcare reform.

Hagan said, “President Obama addressed Congress and the nation about his vision for health care reform. He said we need to provide security and stability to people who have insurance, expand access to health insurance to those who do not, and slow down the exploding costs of health care.

“The President is dedicated, as I am, to strengthening our existing, employer-based system. We agree the reform package must stabilize costs, expand coverage and ensure that a preexisting condition does not prevent anyone from obtaining health insurance. As I have said all along and the President just confirmed - people who like their current insurance and doctors will keep them. The President also wants to create more competition in the insurance market and help small businesses provide health insurance coverage, which I believe are critical components for inclusion in the final bill.

“The President was adamant that health care reform will not add to our federal deficit now or in the future. He specifically said he would not sign a bill that adds one dime to our deficit, which has been a requirement of mine all along.

“I agree with President Obama that our country needs health care reform that stabilizes costs and provides security to our families. A medical condition should never cause a family to declare bankruptcy.”

Senator Hagan is serving her first term as a United States Senator.

Provide 46 million uninsured people with health insurance, lower the cost of the ones who have it, improve services and not add one dime to the budget deficit. I hope "Joe Working Man" at least gets a kiss.

Not to worry! Mr. Obama's friends at ACORN are going to come up with the necessary money to fund Obamacare by opening up a chain of brothels all across the nation paid for by our tax dollars! Who says being a community organizer doesn't pay off!

You know it just occurred to me how completely ignorant people can be. I have always known but for some reason it just slapped me in the face -- hard.

Do you realize that even some people who work 40+ hrs a week can still not afford health ins? To some the cost of employer based health ins seems pretty low, but when you make just barely min wage or just a tad above -- those people are barely scarping by as it is and can't afford to get the health ins provided. Even for some making well over min wage -- they still can't afford it. For those of you that are lucky enough to make over $20 an hour and not have a high rent or house payment, car payment, can ins, oh and then add electric and groceries to that. Gas to get back and forth to work, taking kid(s) to sports practice, cheerleading, whatever the case may be, then add whatever people need other than food like soap, shampoo, even toilet paper and such things -- see how much is left over each week to pay for health ins. then add in the deductible when you do need to use it.

I am all for health care reform. Doctors make too damn much money and for some of the doctors out there -- they should be sent home and demanded to choose another profession.

Call me whatever you want to -- I don't care, most Americans need some kind of choice and help out there and I hope that all Americans can get it.

If only, (the 2 saddest words in the English language) all people who complain about health care reform could step into peoples shoes who do need the help. I don't think anyone would be so high and mighty.

Tigress, no disrespect, if you were laying on a table getting ready to be split from navel to collarbone, just how much should this dude get paid that is getting ready to do the splitting? Just wondering. You can round it to the nearest dollar/hour.
Tigress Registered | 09/11/2009 8:45PM
I don't think payment should matter -- I think what really matters or what should matter is that a doctor is there to help others, they shouldn't be there just to make money. If that's the case then look for a ton of mistakes. I would rather have a doctor that cares about his/her patience than money.

"high and mighty"? I'll settle for prosperous and healthy. And I don't expect to get that from Obamacare.

tell it!

It might be nice to realize that there are some of us due to no fault of our own are left without health Care Ins. Due to Pre-existing conditions, who have to rely on programs like medicaid. I would like to be able to buy private insurance, but every time I call one of the companies operating here in NC They ask if I have a pre-existing condition, I tell the truth and say yes, the next thing that happens is that they hang up on me.
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 6:55AM
I'm all for medicaid it's only three bucks a doctors visit and three bucks per perscription, which is nice.
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 6:58AM
Molon you probably are not that far off. There will be some kind of money maker nation wide.
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 7:05AM
They will legalize weed with a huge tax on the stuff. and cheech and chong & company will save our country glory to god.

Easy Molon...
I have been frequenting Obama's Brothel's almost every evening after work, since he took office. To be honest, I've never felt better in my entire life...

Some of you characters miss the whole point. Healthcare needs a major change, but when politicians look you dead in the eye and say it won't cost the taxpayer anything, thats a flat out lie. The same people will pay for this that always have and always will. Lay it out there and let the masses decide what level of care they want. If all you can afford is a trailer, don't be shopping in Linville Ridge.
SpeIIing PoIice Registered | 09/11/2009 9:23AM
R: that's (that is)
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 8:53AM
Whats wrong with a trailer in linville ridge?
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 8:54AM
Those people are stuffy man.
Tigress Registered | 09/11/2009 8:47PM
Not all of them are -- some of the people that live in Linville Ridge are really nice middle to upper middle class -- I know because I do some work for a couple in there. Very nice people and they are by no means wealthy.

Be careful with stereotypes.....
chambels | 09/11/2009 10:18AM
Tigress why don't you call out your boy O'bama to cut the waste, fraud and abuse in ACORN, which gets tax and tarp money to advise a prostitute and pimp how to pimp out underage girls for sex and avoid paying taxes. He can use the savings there to pay for his "plan".
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 10:30AM
That's horrible Chambels. Is this XXX rated? This is a public forum right?
Tigress Registered | 09/11/2009 11:54AM
Chambles -- get off my case -- you like so many are no better than anyone else. get off your high horse already. If you fall you could get hurt -- lets see how well your ins covers you for stupidity.

Grossdc2 -- your point is very well taken -- and it was also stuff like that that I was telling everyone needs to be looked at more closely. It's crap when someone can't get ins because of a pre-existing condition, and companies like that should go under. But I am glad to hear that you do have some sort of help, there are lots of people out there that don't.

There are people out there dying everyday for lack of coverage or lack of good coverage, and the fact that doctors here in the US charge so much people can't afford to pay the bills -- hence a ton of people filing bankruptcy. and the chain goes on and on and on and on.........
lawnboy Registered | 09/11/2009 12:13PM
I would still like to see a trailer park at linville ridge.
lawnboy Registered | 09/12/2009 8:11AM
Tigress , where in my post did I say anything about those people being wealthy.T he trailer park in linville ridge comment is refering to the facts that, everybody knows that wouldn't happen. people move into these gaurded communities to get away from the lower class.
Tigress Registered | 09/12/2009 1:16PM
I see. Sorry I guess I misread your post. That is true though -- you are right.

I stand by what I say about those damn gated communities. I wouldn't care how much money I had I would never live in one. There is no sense of originality in those places. All houses are the same color, same mailboxes. It's completely annoying. There would be no way in hell anyone would tell me that my house has to be brown or grey or whatever, if I want a purple house dammit I will paint my house the gaudiest shade of purple I can find -- just to annoy people.
lawnboy Registered | 09/12/2009 2:46PM
I do things to annoy the rich anyway, some woman told me to take off my shoes and I told her ok if you go grab the lysol I would be glad to . I didn't get that bid. I hate stuffy good for nothing people. They are in my opinion a waste of air.
