Man Leasing North Wilkesboro Speedway Arrested Print E-mail

The man leasing the North Wilkesboro Speedway from Speedway Motor Sports CEO, Bruton Smith, was arrested on Monday night.

Monte Mitchell of the Winston-Salem Journal broke the story.  According to Mitchell, Charles Collins Jr. faces three felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense in Wilkes County and on a fugitive warrant from Florida.

The Journal reports Collins’ fugitive charges stemmed from contracting without a license during an emergency and third degree grand theft.

Collins’ false pretense charges stem from Collins reportedly writing three bad checks totaling around $2,000.

Mitchell reports Collins may also be wanted on a fugitive warrant from Georgia.

Collins was given a $25,000 bond and will appear in court on July 22.

Gosh darn it, just when I thought I could give up the weekly trek to the mailbox to retrieve my government-funded cash flow to become the next Penelope Pitstop, (already got the long flowing hair and pink car), my dreams have just been flushed down the septic system of legal poo. If the whole world could forgive a guy for questonable sexual practices just because he could sing, why not forgive some poor guy that wants to provide the opportunities for small town rednecks to have fun, achieve dreams, and make a little money, for skipping out on a few trumped up charges from down South?

Too bad - his ideas sounded promising. Another case of skeletons in the closet.

What is contracting w/out a license during an emergency? Hurricane season?

All hope may not be lost for Mr. Collins. He might still be able to get a cabinet position in the Obama administration. Look at Timothy Geitner! :D
