Earlier this week, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, Kay Hagan, announced she warned her opponent, Elizabeth Dole, that if she did not pull an ad off the air that called Hagan “godless,” she would file a cease-and-desist order to have it removed legally.
While at her campaign rally in Boone Thursday, Dole told Aisling Broadcasting she will not pull the ad.
Dole said, “The ad stays up. She knew about this. Back before she went to Boston to meet with the founder of the Godless America Pact, she knew because it was in the Raleigh News and Observer… The thing is, these are people who believe we should take ‘In God We Trust’ off of our money, taking God out of the pledge… to take money from people who believe such things is just simply outrageous.”
Since Dole’s attack ad has aired, Hagan has issued a response ad in which she says Dole knows she is a Christian.
