Incumbent 10th District Republican Representative
Patrick McHenry may have secured his bid to keep his seat, but he didn’t secure
an endorsement from his challenger, Lance Sigmon.
McHenry defeated him, 34,275
votes to Sigmon’s 16,818 votes Tuesday. Just because Sigmon refuses to support
McHenry doesn’t mean he’s throwing his hat in with the Democrats.
“I’m not going to help them either, I’m just not going to
endorse him.”
The race for the Republican bid was wrought with
controversy. McHenry has fallen under recent fire from the national media,
critics and bloggers for recent incidents that include calling an Iraq security
guard “two-bit” during a speech in Lincoln County. While Sigmon’s campaign
tried to use the criticism to promote an alternative Republican, it wasn’t
enough to stop McHenry.
McHenry faces off with Democratic bid Daniel Johnson
in November.
