Peace, Liberty and Justice Conference
Peace, Liberty and Justice Conference scheduled for April 10, 2010 in the ASU Plemmons Student Union. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. with opening remarks. From 11:00-4:00 there will be four sessions of discussions. Each hour, participants will be able to choose between three discussions per hour. The topics include everything from the USA Patriot Act, to failures and alternatives to the War on Drugs, to Iraq War Manipulation, to Environmental Justice surrounding Mountain Top Removal. All political ideologies are encouraged to attend to promote a more constructive discussion.

THIS Saturday March 27th: STOP HUNGER NOW!
Local Rotary
Clubs have raised $25,000 to send food to the people of Haiti in the wake of
the devastating earthquake earlier this year. They are looking for 130
volunteers per shift, so sign up now! This event is family friendly and will
welcome volunteers from 3-100 years old! We've been told the project is fun and
time flies. Shifts are: 8:30-11am, 11-1:30pm, and 1:30-4pm (each shift begins
with a brief training sessions) and the event will take place in the Holmes
Convocation Center. Contact Mike Kebelbeck (828-295-7615) to sign up…walk
ins are also welcome, come help Haiti!
Note: If you are a fraternity,
sorority, church or civic organization, collect your volunteer names and get
the list to Mike. We are looking at about 130 volunteers for shift one, 140
volunteers for shift two, and 130 volunteers for shift three.

Caring Community Members of the High Country
In January 2009, we spent a day discussing "How can we create a
more resilient community?"
Some neat developments have occurred since then. We tried again on
January 30, 2010. Old Man Winter had other plans.
