BOONE - According tol 247Sports.com. 3-Star cornerback Justin Birdsong has decommitted from Appalachian State University.

Birdsong origiinally made a verbal commitment to play football at App State on July 7. He has 18 offers, including three from Power 5 schools, Illinois, Iowa State and Kansas State. Birdsong was quoted by 247Sports.com, "This is a very tough decision, but I would like to make sure that I am 100% positive in where I will take myself for school."

Birdsong (6-foot, 175-pounds) is a rising senior at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga., which is about 20 miles east of Atlanta. He had 81 tackles, two interceptions and eight breakups for the Jaguars as a junior. He is believed to be Power 5 bound.

Despite Birdsong's departure, the Apps still have four defensive backs among their stable of commitments for 2018. They also have 19 commitments for 2018, the most in the Sun Belt Conference ahead of Arkansas State.
