The 19th annual Blood, Sweat and Gears ride on Saturday, June 24th.

The annual event is a fundraiser for local charities in the High Country.

The ride will begin at 7:30 Saturday morning and will begin at Valle Crucis Elementary School and will wind through the High Country along Meat Camp Road, Bethel Road, and Mast Gap Road before returning to the Valle Crucis Elementary School.

There are two routes, one is a 90 mile run and there's a shorter 50 mile trek. There is a cumulative elevation change of more than 6000 feet that makes BSG a very challenging ride. Thew 50 Mile ride is no slouch either, with a cumulative 4200 foot elevation change.

There is an after ride celebration set for 6:30 Saturday evening at Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Boone.
