The Watauga County Commissioners approved a zoning map amendment in the Foscoe/Grandfather community at Tuesday’s meeting.
The amendment will allow for the Board of Adjustment to rule on a conditional use permit for a property owned by FS Holdings Ltd, on Riley Road in Foscoe. The request was to change the zoning from Highway Commercial to Light Industrial. No one signed up to speak during the Public Hearing about the matter and the board voted unanimously to make the change. The Board of Adjustment will hear the conditional use request April 24th.
In other action, the Commissioners approved David Randy Jones as the architect for renovations at the County Health Department, and accepted low bidder HVAC Inc of Bristol to replace the HVAC system at the Winkler’s Creek Facility, and Iron Mountain was awarded the Watauga Law Enforcement Center water and sewer project.
Also during the meeting, Watauga County Commissioners presented a proclamation honoring Dr. Jack Lawrence Sr. for his lifelong public service to Watauga County. Commission Chairman John Welch presented a framed copy of the proclamation to members of Lawrence’s family who were in attendance.
