The search for a new Watauga High School Principal is still underway.
WataugaOnline reports that Superintendant Scott Elliot says 14 individuals have applied as of January 9th. The position will be advertised through March 1st, and interviews will be conducted during the month of March.
According to the position listing, the applicant must hold a NC Professional Educator's License in the area of 00012 - School Administrator: Principal; previous experience as a school principal preferred; Strong instructional background; competence with the NC Educator Evaluation System (NCEES); a minimum of five years successful teaching experience, preferably at the high school level; expertise in public relations & communication skills; knowledge of current high school reform efforts & measures; experience with Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cooperative Innovative High Schools.
Former WHS Principal Marshall Gasperson was granted a medical leave of absence in November. Wayne Eberle has been acting as interim principal.
