Two Trapped, Injured in Mid-day Wreck

Two women were trapped in their vehicle after it ran off Perkinsville Drive just before noon. Arriving Boone Police and Fire found the vehicle off the road suspended against two trees, causing Boone Fire to have to secure the vehicle before reaching the women trapped inside for Full Story

Tennessee Fugitive Arrested in Avery

Avery Sheriff’s officers arrested Rachel Lee McCoury, 43, of 538 Barlow Rd, Elk Park, on a fugitive warrant from Tennessee.  McCoury was wanted for Promotion of Methamphetamines and Sale of Schedule III drugs in Carter County, TN. McCoury was transferred to the Carter County Jail after her arrest. Full Story

July Assault Leads to Avery Man's Arrest

Sunday, officers of the Avery County Sheriff’s Office arrested Randy Allen Benfield, 23, of 90 Echo Hollow Lane, Newland, on a count of Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Woman Killed, Two Men Injured in Crash
