A family cookout ended in a knife fight in Wilkesboro.
When a man allegedly tried to stop a woman from driving drunk, police say she did not react kindly. Eric Fergusen and Rachel Hailey were fighting over keys when Valerie Ferguson apparently tried to break up the fray. Hailey then allegedly slashed her hand. She went to Wilkes Regional Medical Center for treatment, and was soon joined by her brother, Eric Ferguson, who soon showed up with stab wounds of his own. According to what he told Wilkesboro police, Eric Ferguson was stabbed in the back and twice on his left arm when he tried to restrain Hailey because he believed her to be too intoxicated to drive home. The police have yet to file charges against anyone in the incident.
