Notary arrested- Wilkesboro PD find car PDF Print

Wilkesboro Police believe they know what happened to a vehicle reported missing last month from a local dealer.

When a routine inventory showed a discrepancy between the number of cars and the dealership records, Empire Nissan notified the police. Wilkesboro Police believe a sale was made- but fraudulently. Using the name of a former home healthcare client, Teresa Palmillas purchased a vehicle. She had her client sign the papers thinking they were loan paperwork. The notary at the dealership, Christopher Carter, was arrested for allegedly applying his seal without witnessing the signature. Palmilla had been able to get a loan and insurance, all using her client’s name. Palmilla has yet to be charged in the incident, and Empire Nissan is working with her client to straighten things out.
