Firecracker run to start with a bang PDF Print

Caldwell County is off to a running start this morning with the Firecracker Road Race in Lenoir.

According to Meleah Mikeal, it’s a great way to start your Independence Day.

It's a great way to  stay healthy and celebrate our country, she says.

There’s still time to register! Between 7 and 8:30 a.m., new runners will be allowed to sign up. Runners will take off just before 9 a.m. The event starts at Broyhill Walking Park. It includes a 10K, a 5K and a 1-mile fun run.

Caldwell’s patriotic celebration doesn’t stop at a race, however.

A skate park competition starts at 11 a.m., and children’s entertainment is promised throughout the day. Harry Deal and the Galaxies will perform from 6 to 9 p.m., and fireworks start after dark.
