July 4th is coming up, and people in the tourism industry are gearing up for what promises to be a busy weekend.

That includes the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.

BACC has received several calls from people with questions about Independence Day festivities.

Michelle Lignon says the recent interest is not unexpected.

July is the busiest month, she said, and that's because of the holiday.

The Avery County/Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce shares Lignon’s enthusiasm, according to Linda Rae. Is this weekend typically busy in Avery?

Very, according to Lignon.

In fact, the Avery County/Banner Elk Chamber prepares for the hustle through its website.

The Chamber has plenty of information on High Country happenings, Rae said.

With a website detailing area activities, the call volume stays low, she says.

As for this weekend? Rae and Lignon hope it exceeds everyone’s expectations.
