Greenway Road Back Open PDF Print

Greenway Road is back open after an early morning crash that took down a utility pole.  The crash occurred at about 5:20am as the vehicle approached Winkler’s Creek Road on Greenway, but the driver failed to make the sharp curve, crossed the oncoming lane, and struck the utility pole, taking it down.  The impact caused the vehicle to roll over on its side, and caused power lines to fall across Greenway Drive.  A resident across the road was awakened by the sound of the crash and checked on the woman while calling 9-1-1. The woman suffered a cut on her leg and a bump to the head, and was transported by Watauga Medics to Watauga Medical Center while Boone Police with help of other law enforcement closed off the area from Wilson Drive to Meadowview Drive.  Police said the driver and lone occupant of the car was from South Carolina, but they have not yet identified her or charges from the predawn crash.
